Obituary

Bill Handley, 79, of Charleston, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Cedar Ridge Nursing Home, after a long illness. He was a former employee of the city of Charleston, and retired from the Dupont Corporation with 33 years of service. Bill was preceded in death by his father, Russell Handley, and mother, Edna Marie Vannoy Handley; brother, Keith Edwin Handley; daughter, Rebecca Louise Handley; and great-grandson, Max McGuire. Left to cherish his memories are; his loving wife of 59 years, Elma Handley of Charleston; son and daughter-in-law, William and Sandy Handley of Cross Lanes; Daughters, and son-in-law, Gretchen and Scott Cavender of Charleston, and Diana Jeffries of Charleston; grandchildren, Emily McGuire and husband, John of Charleston, and Kayce Handley of Huntington; and his beloved dog, Tillie. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home, Charleston, with the Rev. William K. Berry officiating. Burial will be in Center Point Cemetery, Liberty, West Virginia. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 1, 2013 at the funeral home. The family would like to express their appreciation and thankfulness to the staff of Cedar Ridge for all the care given during Bill's illness. He will be missed by his family and friends.
