Obituary

Bernard Lee McCracken, 81, of Ripley, passed away June 4, 2010 in Ravenswood Care Center. Bernard was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Hallie Whittington McCracken, and a son, Randal McCracken. He was born and raised in Charleston, and lived in the area his whole life. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of Goldtown Community Church. Surviving are; his wife of 60 years, Meta B. Watson McCracken; sons and daughters-in-law, Barry and Peggy McCracken, and Jeffrey and Iva McCracken all of Atlanta, Georgia; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Bourgeois of Ripley; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and John Reynolds of Charleston; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Ravenswood Care Center's owner and staff and Hospice for their wonderful care of Bernard. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2010 at Goldtown Community Church, Goldtown, with the Rev. Al Mendez officiating. Burial will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to the service Monday at the church.
