Ballard "Butch" Thaxton 67 of Green Bay Virginia, formerly of Sissonville, WV passed away suddenly Thursday May 16, 2013 at his home. He was born January 7, 1946 to Okey and Mabel Thaxton. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 41 years, Brenda Thaxton; sons, Steven Thaxton and wife Melisa of Charleston; Curtis Thaxton and wife Melissa of CT. Two Grandchildren, Brittany and Bailey; sisters, Bessie Gandee and Sissy Patterson of Charleston; mother-in-law, Barbara Cox, and many nieces, nephews, family and friends that loved his dearly. Preceding him in death were his parents, sisters, Bonnie Fralick and Bethal Haynes; brothers, Basil, Bernard and Bill Thaxton. He was the owner of the former Shoney's in Farnville, Virginia. He was the kindest man you would ever meet; he would give you the shirt off his back. Butch loved to play golf, poker and the New England Patriots. Memorial Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday May 25, 2013 at Elizabeth Baptist Church Activity Building, Wolf Pen Drive, Sissonville. He will be laid to rest in Thaxton Cemetery with Military Graveside Rites provided by American Legion Post 61, Clendenin following services.
